Crown
The Crown Regency Hotel where the Sky Experience Adventure is.

From the outside, Crown Regency Hotel looks old but wait till the sun sets, this old-looking building turns into a lively one, with all twinkling, bright lines of colored lights from top to bottom that frequently change . Cool!

Sunset
The view from the 19th floor of Crown Regency Hotel.

The ticketing office of the Sky Experience Adventure is located on the 19th floor. At first, we thought to ourselves, “it is not that high.” I asked the lady from the counter which floor should we go for the adventure, she said “38th floor.” Oh! According to the reception when we called earlier that day, the best time to try the Sky adventures would be from 5 PM so that we can witness the majestic sunset and compare day and night views from the top. We followed her advise.

Bracelet
The souvenir bracelet I got from doing all the adventures. 1000 PHP for 3 activities.

We chose the combo ticket comprising of 3 activities worth 1000 PHP: Tower Zip, Edge Coaster, and Sky Walk Extreme. Since my Dad was with us, we bought a viewing ticket from the 38th floor for him worth 250 PHP. If I would rank the level of thrill experienced (that could make your knees knock against each other uncontrollably) among these 3, Edge Coaster would be #1 followed by Sky Walk Extreme. Both of these were our first times. What made the Tower Zip special was that it was way high up in the sky. Too bad we could not bring any cameras to any of the adventures. We had to buy the photos from them.

Zipline
The Tower Zip allows you to land on the next building 250 feet away and 473 feet from the ground.

We queued for the zip line adventure first before the guides were going to take a one-hour break. There were not a lot of people anyway since it was a weekday. In doing the zip line, there was in fact another advertised position, which is the upside down way where your head is facing the sky and your feet are pointing to the heavens. I wanted to do it but the guide said there would be no view. He had a point. Okay, let’s do the basic position.

Launch
Just before embarking into the zip line adventure.

I love zip lining and this time, it was on top of the building. We ‘zipped’ to the other building and then slowly were pulled back to where we came from via the same line. Since the return trip was slower, I was able to gaze at the city and we were facing the pretty sunset (but I did not have a camera to capture it! Argh!).

Another Angle
The wider angle taken before my release to the next building.
Back
We were pulled back to the starting point and they paused the pull for a photo.
Behind
The wider view of what’s behind me while I was up hanging in the air.
End
The receiving area of the Tower Zip adventure. From this point, we had to go back to the Crown Regency building.
First
The world’s first urban sky zip. True.

Next off was the Edge Coaster. I was honestly nervous because I did not know what to expect. The guide assisted us to the seats while giving instructions. Half of my mind was busy preparing myself for the tilt but I could still understand what he was saying. “The platform will automatically tilt after 5 seconds even if you don’t control it.” Wha-wha-what? Automatically? Yes. That means we had no choice but to experience that 55-degree tilt towards the street, 38 floors or 131 meters away. Yaiks.

Reach
Just trying to reach out the skies as we were locked in this Edge Coaster ride almost 131 meters from the ground.

The coaster started to move and indeed after 5 seconds, the platform slowly raised to its maximum as it was traveling on the rail. We could clearly see the side of the building down to the street and the rest of the city. Wow! The first thing I said was “Okay ka lang? (Are you okay?)” to Mikee. I was afraid that she may have stopped breathing but her eyes were wide open so that meant she was doing okay. “Yeah, I am okay.” Good.

Far End
That lighted building is the ending point of the Tower Zip adventure.

I remember the guide saying that we have full control of the lever but I was not planning on putting down the platform unless Mikee would ask for it, although my hand was already holding the lever just in case. I remained quiet while enjoying the view from a tilted angle when Mikee asked “Gan’to lang ba’to? (Is it just like this?)” Deep inside I knew that the time would come when she would request for the zero angle so I, while laughing inside, quickly adjusted the lever saying “Okay, doing it.” I should have distracted her instead of keeping quiet! We did not raise the platform anymore until we went back to the original position.

View
The spectacular view from the top.

Then lastly, no rides and no flying. Just walking on the outer edge of the hotel … but 37 floors or 127 meters above the ground! Thank God for safety harness but even then, the feeling we had was that we were tied to nothing as we could freely walk. The flooring was a combination of glass and translucent material. What if it was windy?

Sky
This was the feeling of walking in the sky over a combination of translucent and transparent floors.

Apparently, there were standard poses for this adventure. The first one was that we were asked to let our left foot step as close to the the edge of the floor as possible and raise one leg outwards. Hiyaaa! Mikee’s initial and immediate reaction? “No, no, no, not super close to the edge!”

Raise
Successful conquering of the fear of heights!

The next one did not involve edges but more on balancing or flying forms. We were more relaxed and we could be as goofy as possible, although just limited shots.

Fly
That flying feeling from 127 meters high above the street.
Balance
Balancing on top of the Sky Walk Extreme, which is first in the Philippines.

We were back to the edge on our last pose. We had to dangle our legs on the edge. “Oh I don’t like to dangle my legs too much.” Guess who said it? A few more steps after that, our walk concluded.

37
Sitting by the very edge of the 37th floor.

It was a fun walk with a spectacular night view of the busy city. We decided to purchase that one USB with all our photos costing 1000 PHP. Hence, 500 PHP each.

We knew that our hotel was close to the Crown Regency Hotel and it could be walked. When we reached the lobby, I launched Google Maps to check for directions.

However, with exhaustion seeping into our veins, we opted to take the cab instead. Then with just one tick of the taxi meter, we already arrived. That was really near! The beds were really calling us so we did not want to go too far for dinner. We found a shop just across the hotel that serves liempo (grilled pork) with no utensils but just cellophane to wrap our hands and with sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves. Me and Dad skipped the rice and dove into the liempo.

Wow! What an adventure you had!

The area you thought to be a beach shore may be the Cebu Port area. Just a walking distance from Magellan’s cross, you would find the Plaza Independencia which is located near Port San Pedro, which is also near the Malacanang de Sugbu.

The sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves is what we call “puso”, or the hanging rice, it’s quite common here in Cebu. 🙂

You are right! It sure looked like the Cebu Port Area. I see, so it is called puso. Thanks!
