Tokyo, Japan

SkyTree
The Skytree at 634 meters, is a new television broadcasting tower and landmark of Tokyo. It is the tallest in Japan.

Tokyo City is undoubtedly number 1 in anyone’s list who wishes to step on the soils of the land of the rising sun. The way we planned our trip was that we arrived in Haneda, Tokyo and left the country from Kansai, Osaka. This way, we were able to save some time while traveling within Japan.

Ironically, we booked 2 flights bound to Tokyo with a connecting flight in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Well, the obvious reason was because of the cost. Instead of just almost 6 hours direct flight, we endured a total of 11 hours flight (inclusive of layover). The same is true with my flight from Kansai, Osaka back to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Green Park
It feels really great to have a walk in a park like this with cool breeze and peaceful surroundings.

Speaking more of saving some time, we were truly super excited to arrive in Haneda, Tokyo that we apparently missed our flight on April 28, 14:30, from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 to think that we were already within the airport grounds from since a couple of hours earlier! Really unbelievable! Read the story here behind this overly crazy day. Whew! But all was well.

Upon arrival in Haneda International Airport (finally), the very first purchase we did was the Suica Card, which can be used in almost all train stations. It required an initial 500 JPY deposit so we loaded 2000 JPY first.

Suica Card
This was our main train card while going around Japan.

Then I would like to describe our Airbnb (read the review by me as Elyt) experience in Tokyo. By far, I have dealt with the most responsive, helpful, and accommodating host ever. From the day we booked the place with her until the day we left, she was always in contact with us making sure we were doing okay. And the best part of this was that she provided pocket Wi-Fi for us and it truly made our stay even more convenient as we can access the routes of our trains while going to places.

Finding Airbnb
The first road we saw after arriving in Tokyo. This road goes to our Airbnb home near Kinshicho station.
Welcome
The host had found a way to welcome us in her compact and cute home. Sweet!
Tokyo Airbnb
This was our accommodation via Airbnb in Tokyo. We were staying on the second floor. By far, this has been the most compact room I have seen in my life.

I have never met the hosts of the Airbnb places I have been to so far. But still, everything becomes in order through constant communication via emails or via Airbnb messages.

Echo
This is Echo, a huge golden ring suspended between two stone pillars, by the American artist, Loren Madsen (b. 1943). Designed on the theme of “music city Sumida,” it depicts the history of music between the 16th and 20th centuries. This was our landmark when going home to our Airbnb home in Tokyo.
