Magellan’s Cross

Magellan
The Magellan’s Cross was planted in March 15 , 1521 by the order of Ferdinand Magellan.

The Magellan’s Cross is housed in a very tiny chapel. It was just important for me to at least see this because Cebu is equal to Magellan’s Cross. Checked! It was exactly as how I had seen it in photos. At this time, the weather was really hot (coming from the cold mountains, we were not used to this kind of heat). It was a great idea for a super cold drink.

Cross
A sign below the cross describes the original cross is encased inside the wooden cross that is found in the center of the chapel.

We walked towards the road and saw a juice store. Perfect! While waiting for the drinks to be made, I saw the not-so-far end of the road what seemed like the beach shore because of a few coconut trees but I could not really see the ground. I got excited and told Dad and Mikee to go for a walk and see the shore. After just a few steps, we heard cars and saw the roofs of trucks so we figured that it was a road and main road at that, instead of the shore. Retreat! We dismissed the idea and moved on to the highlight of the day.

Wow! What an adventure you had!

The area you thought to be a beach shore may be the Cebu Port area. Just a walking distance from Magellan’s cross, you would find the Plaza Independencia which is located near Port San Pedro, which is also near the Malacanang de Sugbu.

The sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves is what we call “puso”, or the hanging rice, it’s quite common here in Cebu. 🙂

You are right! It sure looked like the Cebu Port Area. I see, so it is called puso. Thanks!
