Dotonbori

One friend of mine could not stop talking about Dotonbori (pronounced [doːtomboɽi]) and really encouraged me to go and see the area. However, with 4 nights in Osaka, it was still extremely challenging for us to drop by although this place was just 10 minutes walk from our Airbnb home! Crazy. Well, that was because we were frequently going home absolutely late in the evening. Like Cinderella.

I’d say this street is comparable to New York’s Times Square but a full street of lights and digital advertisements (and food but we did not eat here since it was already late)! So on our last night, I thought to myself that it was definitely our last chance to see this famous street. True enough, it was greatly amusing for us when we traversed the full stretch of the lively street. Good decision.

Times Square
I consider this as the Times Square area in Dotonbori.
Giant Crabs
There were probably around 3 buildings boasting these moving giant crab display.
Lively
An immensely bright and lively street with all the digital signs and lights.
Alley
The main street branched out into this shopping center.
Selfie
We spent some time in this area because we could see ourselves on that screen to the right of the funny-looking character wearing a hat.
Left and Right
Lights battling attention everywhere.

Come and join me in this time lapse video in taking a quick stroll at Dotonbori.

Distance
That’s Dotonbori from a distance at a little past 10:30 PM.
