Loving Baguio’s Foggy Days

Fog and mountains have been a part of my life. When me and my siblings were little, perhaps I was 7 years old, and since home was (and still is) far from the main road where public transportation was available, we would hike up the hill to the main road for 15 minutes. Panting, the fog would be all around us wetting our hair and sweaters. In the beginning, I was always wondering why I was wet.

This soccer field called Melvin Jones Grandstand is at the heart of Baguio City where I spent more than half of my life.

Our ward or barangay is aliased as The Foggy Hills due to the thick fog we almost always have especially during rainy season, which also makes it difficult for drivers: fog + slopes + curves + sharp curves.

Nonetheless, we love the effect it brings to us and the mountains.

The fog left the field half an hour later.
